Breast Reduction

Enhancing your breasts isn’t always about making them bigger. Breasts that are too large for your body can cause a variety of physical and emotional challenges. The excess weight can lead to chronic neck and back pain, shoulder aches, as well as an overall dissatisfaction with your physical appearance.

At Dr. Patty Miami, our goal is to sculpt beautiful breasts that are not only smaller but also sexy and feminine. We know that our clients don’t necessarily want to say goodbye to their full and voluminous breasts, but that they want a shapelier chest that allows them to take control of their bodies and elevate their quality of life.

Reach New Levels of Self-confidence with Breast Reduction Surgery

The size and weight of excess breast tissue can affect your ability to live the life you wish to live. It can be frustrating to find nice, flattering clothes that actually fit without having to make alterations. And simple activities like sleeping and exercising can be a challenge, too.

Even if you enjoy the size of your breasts, discomfort can be a significant issue. Women with excessively large breasts often experience neck and back problems, as well as those painful deep grooves in the shoulders from bra straps.

Breast reduction surgery will transform your quality of life, self-confidence, and your ability to engage in a more active lifestyle. It’s not just about reducing your bra size by a cup or two; it’s about creating a chest that fits your body, matches your aesthetic goals, and makes you feel amazing on your own skin.

Who Are Good Candidates for Breast Reduction Surgery?

You may be an excellent candidate for breast reduction surgery if:

  • Your breasts have fully developed
  • You have neck, shoulder, or back pain due to overly large breasts
  • You have poor posture from the weight of your chest
  • You are self-conscious or embarrassed over the appearance of your breasts
  • Your breasts are asymmetrical
  • You have a restricted range of motion or can’t perform certain physical activities comfortably due to the size of your breasts

During your initial consultation at Dr. Patty Miami, your surgeon will evaluate your anatomical and aesthetic needs to understand what you hope to achieve in terms of final breast size, shape, and profile. Your breast reduction surgery will be a customized procedure, with a bespoke surgical plan that reflects the current condition of your breast tissue as well as your cosmetic aspirations.

The Breast Reduction Surgery Procedure

Breast reduction surgery is done under general anesthesia and performed as an outpatient procedure at our onsite, fully accredited surgical suite.

The surgery involves making an incision and extracting excess fat and tissue from the breasts through liposuction or surgical excision. The remaining tissue is then lifted and re-contoured to create a more balanced and attractive look. In some cases, the nipple and areola are also reshaped and repositioned, so they are in proportion with your beautiful new breasts.

Finally, your incisions will be covered with surgical tape and dressings, or your breasts may be wrapped with a medical bra to promote healing and support. Almost immediately after your surgery, you will start noticing that the unpleasant symptoms associated with excessively large breasts have improved or entirely gone away.

Recovering from Breast Reduction Surgery

Immediately after

Right after surgery, you will stay in our private recovery suite until you are cleared by your surgeon to go home. During surgery, a small tube may be placed in each breast to drain out blood and fluids for the first couple of days. Your surgeon will prescribe medications to manage the pain.

You can expect some pain and discomfort for the first few days, especially when you cough or move around. While the bandages and tubes will be removed during your follow-up consult, you’ll need to continue wearing your support bra for several weeks until the swelling and bruising subside.

1-3 Weeks

A couple of weeks following your procedure, you should be feeling a lot better. Most patients can return to work and their daily activities (if they aren’t too strenuous) in 1 to 3 weeks. Your first menstruation after your procedure may cause your breasts to swell and hurt. Your breasts may also ache occasionally. This is normal and should fade over the next few months.

You are encouraged to walk around as soon as you can to promote circulation and minimize inflammation. However, you should refrain from exercising or doing strenuous activities (including sex) for several weeks after your procedure.

4-8 Weeks

Most of the bruising and swelling subsides in 2-3 weeks. However, it can take up to 4 months until your breasts are fully healed and have settled into their final shape. Your scars might look red and rough for several months. Your surgical team will provide you with a detailed aftercare plan, including skincare recommendations for improving the appearance of your scars.

Take Control of Your Body with Breast Reduction Surgery

For many women, getting breast reduction surgery is the most empowering decision they’ll ever make. After struggling with overly large breasts, a breast reduction surgery can give you back the ability to wear whatever you want and do the things you want to do freely and without pain.

Breast Reduction FAQs

When Will I See My Breast Reduction Results?

The price of breast reduction surgery (mammaplasty) in Miami varies depending on many factors, including the extent and complexity of the procedure, the surgeon you choose, and adjacent fees such as anesthesia and lab work.

Typically, breast reduction in Miami can cost anywhere from $5,700 to $8,000.

How Much Does Breast Reduction Cost in Miami, Fl?

Breast reduction surgery is only covered by insurance when deemed medically necessary. To request coverage, most health insurances require the surgeon to write a letter describing the patient’s symptoms, clinical findings, and the estimated breast weight to be removed.

However, individual policies may vary. The best way to find out if your insurance covers breast reduction surgery is to call your insurance provider and ask.

Is Breast Reduction Covered by Insurance?

Breast reduction surgery is safe, but like other surgeries, there are risks associated with the procedure. These include bleeding or hematoma, anesthesia risks, persistent pain, loss of sensation near or at the surgical site, and infection.

What Are the Risks Associated with Breast Reduction Surgery?

Most patients go down 1 to 2 sizes with breast reduction surgery, but it may be possible to go down even more. The best way to determine this is by scheduling a complimentary consultation with a cosmetic surgeon at Dr. Patty Miami.

How Many Sizes Can You Go Down with Breast Reduction Surgery?

It depends on how your surgery is performed. During breast reduction surgery, glandular tissue is removed and some nerves and milk ducts may be cut. However, new techniques allow surgeons to preserve lactation-related structures more accurately, and many women who have gotten breast reduction surgery have gone on to successfully breastfeed their babies.

Can I Breastfeed after Breast Reduction Surgery?

Your scars will be dark and firm for several months following your procedure. In fact, they might appear to be getting worse before they begin to fade. This process can take 6 months or longer. However, it is important to keep in mind that breast reduction scars will never completely go away.
